Which egg?

Question:
Which one of these girls has the least experience in laying eggs?  In other words, which egg indicates the youngest layer in the brood?

Answer:
The smallest yolk.

Good Friday...

Thanks be to thee, my Lord Jesus Christ,
For all the benefits thou hast won for me,
For all the pains and insults thou hast borne for me.

O most merciful Redeemer, Friend, and Brother,
May I know thee more clearly,
Love thee more dearly,
And follow thee more nearly:
For ever and ever.

Prayer of St Richard of Chichester - 1197-1253

Happy chatting with my mother...

When my mom and I get chatting we talk about all kinds of things... and love to talk about the family trips she took us all on when we were kids... This evening's conversation included the following topics:

Which flag in the world has a bunch of bananas on it?  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Flag_of_Fiji.svg

Nile River... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nile_River

Wow! We covered a lot of ground! And we have both decided to put a world map on a wall in our homes, so that we can refer to it, like we used to when I was a teenager...

...we touched on Mauritius and decided to leave that for another day! Lol !

Thanks Mom, for all the happy and very interesting memories we've made! xx

Chichester Cathedral...

We went to Chichester Cathedral today, to greet and pray for our new Archbishop Welby.
The atmosphere was just wonderful! May God bless him. Amen.

The picture above was copied from the BBC News web page.

This is a little video recording I made of the 'Archbishop-to-be' as he walked
toward the entrance of Chichester Cathedral. Today's technology! Amazing!
NB: The person talking in this video is not me, but a lady standing just to
the left of me, talking to someone else - it is not my voice you are hearing.

Easter Tea... Looking forward to it!

The three little eggs were layed by my sweet little new hens.
The hens are only 20 weeks old and they are lovely, a great joy!

Rooster... & Patient...

When one goes out for a drink in the local pub, one never knows what could happen next… Yesterday, hubby had been rehearsing a wedding with a couple getting married today and phoned me up to say to meet them all at the pub, across from the church. I did so and after the soon to be married couple and their family left, we met up with our neighbours who were there, too. We were chatting about our hens, which we both keep and I was saying about how my girls (hens) were pecking each other, literally to death, when… a man sitting at the bar next to us politely interjected and said, he had two Bantam Cockerels who needed a new home, would I and my lady friend be interested! No charge! Well, we both jumped in with a resounding ‘Yes!’ and will be fetching them this morning! Hopefully my ‘hen-pecking’ days will be over! Watch this space…

...Say ‘Hello!’ to Arnie, my first ever cockerel – a Bantam… Isn’t he the beezneez!

Here he is with the girls…

And here is my little patient who is now the third of my ‘hen-pecked’ victims… I don’t think she is going to survive… so sad! She’s mainly staying inside the sick bay… But yesterday, Arnie was introduced to the remaining three girls one of whom is the bully and he sorted her out so swiftly… so, hopefully that will be the end of the bullying. Fingers crossed+

Tan' Malie se Winkel...

When I was growing up in South Africa, 'Tan' Malie se Winkel' is a place (shop and restaurant) on the Harbeespoort Dam, to which my mom took me, my brothers and my gran, for Sunday outings. It is a time and place in my life I remember fondly... and some of the best days spent with family! Thanks mom. x

View returning home after our happy day out...

...perhaps, someday... I'll go there again...x

New hens in the house...

Above are the new hens (x 7), which I brought home last Saturday... and Mr Roodeldoo... and today we have our first little egg from one of the girlies! So small...x

When weeds must...

A friend rang up and asked if she could pop in for a quick cup of tea. Realising I had no flowers to put on the tea tray, I ran into the garden and picked what I could find! Simply, delightfully dandy! She loved this little arrangement - so did I... PS: I'm talking about last summer... still waiting for this summer to show up! x
